Back to school

If you have a son or daughter entering high school, or know of a family who does, consider Spring Branch Academy as a unique home-schooling option. The school is an affiliate ministry of the church.

The academy offers classroom tutorials in five core subjects—theology, science, math, the classical languages, and the humanities (history, literature, and rhetoric). In addition, seniors take a Public Policy course in government, economics, and medicine, thereby fulfilling a state requirement for graduation.

Students meet just twice a week, with reading and writing to be done at home. Parents select courses, offer electives, and grant the diploma. This partnership allows parents the liberty to oversee the education without the burden of teaching every subject.

Going deeper, the academy is a form of Christian education, with every subject presented and examined in light of God’s word, the Bible. God is the context for everything; therefore, in order to understand anything, we must understand it in light of who He is, what He does, and what He says. Any education without God misses the forest for the trees. Truly, the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10).

If you have questions or have a student in mind, please contact Pastor Bob Snyder, who teaches the academy. His phone number and email address are (517) 849-7035 and qoheleth1210@gmail.com.

The academy is entering its third year, and it is not too late to enroll for this fall. While not for everyone, it may be a good option for your child or for someone you love. In making educational choices, it is a blessing to have options.
