New small group to focus on families

Posted on Aug. 25, 2010 by Wally Metts.

A new small group begins in September, led by Wally and Katie Metts. It will be at their home in Horton, MI, 7550 Cochran Rd.

This small group will be more thematic, focused on creating and sustaining healthy families. It begins with a study of John Piper's book This Momentary Marriage, a study appropriate for anyone, from those thinking about getting married to people who have been married a long time. There are important chapters on being single and practicing hospitality as well, framed by a biblical understanding of marriage and divorce.

The study meets at 7:00 p.m. on the Friday night of any week when other small groups are meeting on Sunday. This will allow people who may be in other small groups to participate, coming in and out depending on the topic or study underway. There will be a light dinner at 6:00, typically a salad or soup. Please call Katie at 517-563-2338 if you are coming to the study, and let her know if you want to come to or help with dinner as well.

Please note that although this is focused on families, and will include future studies on issues such as parenting (or grand parenting), communication, etc., it is not designed to accommodate small children. Any teen could find these conversations helpful, even foundational, but conversations may be frank and even intense at times. Parents with small children are encouraged to find or share a sitter.
